The prime minister Narendra Modi personally and heartily congratulated the world-class international badminton player PV Sindhu in New Delhi after returning from G 7 summit by blessing her for bringing laurels for the country, winning the BWF World Championships, the first-ever Indian shuttler to do so. After wishing her good luck and blessing Sindhu on her outstanding feat Prime minister Modi tweeted: India’s pride, a champion who has brought home a Gold and lots of glory! Happy to have met @Pvsindhu1. Congratulated her and wished her the very best for her future endeavors.

Earlier yesterday night while PV Sindhu landed at the Palam International Airport she was accorded a tumultuous welcome by her supporters, fans, badminton fraternity and family members with media gathered in large numbers. According to her tweet, Sindhu wrote: I could not hold back my tears when I saw the Indian flag and heard the National Anthem playing. Words can’t express my feelings about yesterday’s win at the World championship. Had been preparing for it for so… added Sindhu in her tweet. Earlier the sports ministry had announced a cash reward of ten lakhs for PV Sindhu on her outstanding international achievement at the world badminton championship.

While meeting the prime minister Narendra Modi, Sindhu was joined by the legendary badminton star of India and the present chief coach Pullela Gopichand and a new foreign coach Kim Ji Hyun, a former South Korean international. Both Pullela Gopichand and Kim Ji Hyun had immensely contributed by training and acutely sharpening the attacking prowess of PV Sindhu turning her into an ebullient and aggressive player.

Her father PV Ramana, a recipient of coveted Arjuna Award and former volleyball player also accompanied her. The Sports and Youth Affair minister hailing from the North East Kiran Rijiju was the happiest person who accorded Sindhu full respects and encouragement. He had immediately announced a cash gift INR 10 lakhs cash gift to the Badminton World Champion.

Union sports and youth affairs minister Kiran Rijiju who had personally congratulated Sindhu on her exemplary achievement tweeted: honored @Pvsindhu1 created history and made India proud by winning the World Badminton Championship for the first time. My best wishes to her in her pursuit to bring more glory to India. The entire country is indeed proud of her. Good luck Sindhu.

PM Modi has called her as India’s pride.
