The Delhi State Committee of Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan has while expressing serious concern and shock over the increasing incidents of violence of children and women in J &K demanded notificatiin of POSCO in the strife torn border state and termed it strange that the distressed women are confronting tremendous difficulties is seeking due justice in view of prevaling Armed Forces Special Powers Act in the state.

Addressing a press conference at Press Club of India today the general secretary of the women’s body Poonam Kaushik who’ve returned to Delhi after being on a fact finding mission in Kashmir a few days ago to investigate the obnoxious rape and brutal murder of an eight year old girl in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir alongwith other team members Sr Advocate Shubra, Kalpana and Jaishree while revealing the report in front of the media expressed her serious concern that the brutal sexual violence and murder of the little girl has been horribly publicized and communalised in order to help the culprits. It may be recalled that the dead body of the eight year old girl with several wounds and blood stains was found in the jungles of Kathua district in Kashmir on 17th January by the local police. About 6 culprits have been caught so far including two policemen.

The deceased belonged to the tribal Bakkarwal community of nomad Gujjars. The matter was highly publicised in newspapers and electronic channels and it is alleged that the accused party is trying to give it a communal colour in order to get rid of the crime, demanding CBI enquiry despite the fact that on the orders of the State High Court the state crime branch and the SIT is already carrying out the investigations with the chargesheet to be filed within three months of conduction of the crime.

Speaking to the media today, the women members of the fact finding team released a six point report in a precise form alongwith a detailed report as well, unambiguously reaching to a conclusion that since the state crime branch is already carrying out the fool proof investigation in the matter under the High Court’s directives there is no need for any CBI enquiry as it will amount to directly belittle the impartial judiciary.

They added that since the investigations are being done by hon’ble HC’s orders on the petition filed by the natural parents of the deceased who are fully satisfied with the investigations, there’s no point in transfering the case from SIT to CBI. The team is of the unamimous opinion that the SIT should initiate the investigation using the latest scientific methods and tools to ensure that no laxity is observed in the due course and the culprits are not let off by all means.

The four member team of Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan has after detailed investigations come to the final conclusion that a local organisation propagating the majority community’s interests is trying to put question mark on the credibility and integrity of the SIT on communal lines which is absolutely in correct and puts a grave question mark on their malafide intentions.

The Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased, immediate implementation of POSCO in J&K, adequate police protection to the family and the property of the deceased girl and immediate filing of charge sheet in the court of law with use of the latest scientific methods and tools to collect transparent evidence in this vexed case.
