Rahul Gandhi appoints sister Priyanka as AICC general secretary. Congressmen jubilant.

What was being repeatedly demanded in Congress party since long has finally been fulfilled. Feeling the dire necessity of strengthening the sinking ship of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh especially after the formation of the credible pre electoral alliance of BJP and SP in the largest state of the country, the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has in the advent of the new year appointed his elder sister Priyanka Gandhi as the new general secretary of All India Congress Committee giving her the specific charge for East Uttar Pradesh, pleasing millions of party workers and leaders who’d been time and again demanding her active participation in the Congress party. However, how credibly would Priyanka’s debut in Uttar Pradesh n country’s active politics would contribute in enhancing the prospects of the party organisation remains to be seen.

In a press release issued today the senior most leader, Rajasthan CM and the general secretary of the Party ( organisation) Ashok Gehlot said that the Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed Priyanka Gandhi as the AICC general Secretary incharge of East Uttar Pradesh who’ll be formally taking the new charge in the first week of February at party’s Akbar Road headquarter in New Delhi.

Since the present General Secretary, Organisation Ashok Gehlot has been elevated as the Rajasthan CM after the party’s thundering victory in Rajasthan Mr. K. C. Venugopal has been appointed as the new G S ( Organisation) in his place with immediate effect with the charge of Karnataka.

While appreciating the services of the outgoing general secretary Ashok Gehlot for his outstanding services to the party organisation the Congress chief has also nominated Jyotiraditya Scindia as General Secretary incharge of North Uttar Pradesh.

Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad who was earlier the general secretary of AICC incharge UP has been given the charge of Haryana with immediate effect.

While Priyanka’s entry in the party will enthuse the Congress workers, it remains to be seen how it will play out electorally.

Soon after the appointment, Gandhi’s husband n a controversial businessman Robert Vadra , congratulated her in his Facebook post.

It may be recalled that at present, Congress has only two Lok Sabha seats of Amethi and Raebareli from Uttar Pradesh and till now Priyanka had been managing the socio political affairs of both the brother n mother’s contituencies.

While her entry in Congress party’s active politics has made the Congress workers n leaders jubilant, especially in Uttar Pradesh where the party is in bad shape it’s bound to open a new power centre in the party with Congressmen having been discarded in other camps clamouring around her for the revival of their personel political fortunes.

With Uttar Pradesh likely to witness a three cornerd contest in general election between SP BSP RLD combine, BJP n Congress the role of Priyanka Gandhi n Jyotiraditya Scindhia becomes all the more significant as the parliamentary results of the general elections will not only test the leadership acumen of the 47 year old lady of the Sonia Gandhi family but will also decide how relevently would her leadership charisma pave the way for her future politics.
