Rahul Priyanka road show in Amethi becomes a family affair

Thousands of enthusiastic electorates n as well as Congress supporters today followed Rahul Gandhi’s cavalcade in Amethi vociferously raising pro Rahul, Congress n Priyanka Gandhi slogans after the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination papers from Amethi Parliamentary constituency.

The unique scene of the road show was the presence of the entire family except Rahul’s mother Sonia Gandhi who was however present during the filing of the nomination papers in the collectorate.

Besides Congress chief Rahul Gandhi other family members present on the vehicle were Priyanka Gandhi, her husband Rahul Vadra, Son Rehan and daughter.

Jubilant Congress supporters n local leaders were carrying Congress flags and playcards displaying the pictures of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia and Priyanka with slogans hailing both the brother n sister renting the air. There was tremendous enthusiasm and excitement amongst the rank and file.

The general secretary of AICC, incharge of eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi was too in extremely jubilant move trying to bring her son and daughter face to face with the crowd.

Priyanka’s husband Robert Vadra was seen extremely enthusistic encouraging supporters to raise slogans hailing the Congress party, Rahul n Priyanka by waiving n raising his hands repeatedly towards the crowd.

Priyanka said this is the special moment for the entire family as Amethi is the Karmbhoomi of her late father Rajiv Gandhi.

Rahul would be contesting from Amethi for the fourth time. Her poltical rival n BJP candidate from here is the union minister for Textile Smriti Irani who’d lost to the Gandhi family scion in the previous election of 2014 when Narendra Modi wave swept the entire election at pan India level, with BJP getting a historic majority.

The poet turned politician Kumar Vishwas who had contested from AAP’s ticket also lost at the hustings against Rahul Gandhi.

Amethi and Rae Bareilly being the Congress strongholds, the BSP, SP and RLD combine has not feilded any candidate from this constituency this time despite sidelining the Congress party from the anti BJP alliance in the state.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is simultaneously contesting from two constituencies this time viz Amethi and Wayanad in Kerala.

Just a few days ago he’d filed his nomination papers from Wayanad parliamentary constituency which comprises of 40% votes of minorities n 10% electorates hailing from a Christian community.

The BJP has said that Rahul has gone to South fearing his defeat from Amethi the charge strongly refuted and condemned by the Congress party.

The road show in Wayanad was a historic success with hundreds of thousands of people participating in it sending across a positive message in the entire state considered to be the Congress n left bastion.

In a tweet in Hindi Priyanka Gandhi said: KUCH RISHTE DIL KE HOTE HAIN. AAJ BHAI KE NAAMANKAN KE LIYE PURA PARIVAR MAUJUD THA. MERE PITA KI YE KARAM BHOOMI HAI. HAMAARE LIYE PAVITRA HAI.

( Some relations are of heart. Today, the whole family was present for my brother’s nomination. This ( Amethi) is my father’s KARMBHOOMI. It’s a holy/ pious land for us.)
