The entire Uttarakhand is in a state of shock over the death of an entire family in village Kot Thathi Budhakedar. It seems Uttarakhand is cursed by natural calamities and unfortunate incidents of deaths have become the order of the day during the monsoons by way of massive lanslides, cloud bursts and deluges due to torrential and excessive rains.

This year Uttarakhand has witnessed good number of deaths due to cloud bursts in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions claiming several lives and literally destroying villages not feasible for future living or existence.

On 28th August at 4.30 AM the village named Kot Thathi Budhaakedar in Tehri Garhwal the entire family consisting of 7 members lost their precious lives having been buried alive under the massive debris of their own house that collapsed like the pack of cards due to the horrible cloud burst and excessive rains for days together.

After the dedicated efforts of the local villagers and the authorities the only twelve year daughter could be saved after she was retrieved from the muck n silt after being buried for three hours or more. This is a huge tragedy never ever witnessed in the area when the entire family gets buried alive with a single daughter lucky enough to survive.

According to the district youth president Arunoday Singh Negi who’d personally visited the affected village and the local inhabitants this is the third such unfortunate incident in the Kot Thathi Budhakedar village of Tehri Garhwal in a last decade with several families of this village having been the victims of the ecological catastrophe in 2002 and 2012 as well apart from this current mishappening.

There have been horrible landslide in three, four places in Kot Thathi and the adjoining villages said Negi. The villagers are in a state of shock and dillemma and are highly apprehensive of more landslides and natural calamity in the near future. While no financial assistence or any other type of governmental support has reached to the affected village and the bereaved girl so far, the villagers have appealed to the state government to immediately come to their rescue by way of shifting them to a safer place as the recent tragedy and the calamities of 2002 and 2012 have proved beyond doubt that their village Kot, Thathi Budhakedaar as well as the other adjoining villages are not safe and can succumb to the natural disasters in the near future.

The state governments Disaster Management Ministry and the chief minister should intervene in the matter personally to hear the genuine agony of the villagers and adequately compensate them financially as well as rehabilitate them to an alternate safer place before it is too late. Meanwhile the district Youth Congress leader Arunoday Singh Negi has assured the villagers of Kot Thathi village that he will mert the local representatives and the member of parliament of the area to demamd maximum financial assistence for the bereaved daughter whose entire family has been wiped out and also remedy for the affected village demanding its rehabilitation to a safer alternative place on permanent basis in order to rid themselves of the ill effects and implications of the future calamities.

The anguished and grief stricken villagers and the relatives of the deceaseds’ have today bid the tearful farewell to the entire family by consigning their dead bodies to flames..Om Shanti.

Above is the picture of the 12 year old girl who could be saved by thevillagers after great efforts having been buried underneath the rubble for three hours. Shockingly her entire family has died.
