Sr journalist Sunil Negi felicitated
The president of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum, senior journalist , author of two editions of Uttaranchal’s Who’s Who and translator of a book on tragic Uttarakhand disaster of June, 2013 titled HAVOC IN HEAVEN SUNIL NEGI was today felicitated with prestigious RASHTRIYA RATAN AWARD of ALL INDIA ACHIEVERS CONFERENCE at an octane function at Hotel Samrat, for free and fearless journalism and his contribution in posting about five thousand posts on issues of regional and national significance on social networking site facebook to create awreness in the society and mobilise a cross section of the people on the burning topics of the country. The award was presented to Negi by eminent film personalities Raja Murad, Surendra Pal n the Consul General of MONTENEGRO IN INDIA Dr. Jenice Darbari in a function attended by the distinguished people from various fields today (24th Sept, 2017) in New Delhi.
Mr. Negi carries behind him a vast experience as a journalist and social activist having authored two books and contributed tremendously in hindi and english journalism. He had been felicited with several awards in the past and has led the movement demanding justice for the rapists and brutal killers of the NIRBHAYA OF NAJAFGARH ulimately leading to grant of capital punishment to the three culprits. He also arranged Rs 5 lakhs that later on got converted into total seven lakhs by the then UK CM HARISH RAWAT about two years ago for the bereaved family of the deceased. Having served in various newspapers Sunil Negi has been active in journalism for the last three decades and is also credited to have served as Media Consultant at Delhi Commisson For Women for 9 years till 2015. He was also the Media Advisor to Super star turned politician and MP Rajesh Khanna for a decade from 1991 onwards. Mr. Negi was also active in separate Uttarakhand movement and has written on the subject extensively during the movement days during the nineties including filing the petition in Supreme Court of India against the killings of Uttarakhand movement activists in Mujaffar Nagar in 1992 and other parts of Uttarakhand. Negi had been the President of MOTI LAL NEHRU COLLEGE STUDENTS UNION and CENTRAL COUNCILLOR DUSU during 1981/82 . He is a prolific writer and a vivacious reader as well.
