Thanul village inhabitants of Pauri Garhwal demand road to their village
The inhabitants of Thanul village, as well as its surrounding villages under the jurisdiction of Kaljikhal block in Pauri Garhwal district in Patti Manyarsiun, are extremely angered at the noncooperation of the Uttarakhand tourism minister Satpal Maharaj and other concerned officers. They have so far not heeded to their request of constructing a connecting road to their village. This is despite it being a place of historic importance and an extremely popular Sidhpeeth called Thaneshwar temple.
The villagers, as well as some of their lineage living in Delhi, had organized a press conference yesterday at Garhwal Bhawan situated at Panchquin Road. Their aim was to expose the noncompliance of the concerned departments as well as Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj. They wanted a road to be constructed to their village, which was not done so far despite repeated personal meetings and presentation of request letters.
Addressing the press conference the office bearers of the ancient Thaneshwar Temple Committee complained about the Uttarakhand’s tourism minister Satpal Maharaj and the officers of the concerned departments responsible to build the connecting road to Thanul village at Patti Maniyarsiun in Pauri Garhwal. They said that the concerned have not complied despite their myriad representations and requests.
They accused the state government minister and officers of completely neglecting the peoples’ sentiments and the requests of the Temple’s committee members. The president Anand Singh Rawat said that the government should promote religious tourism to the core in Uttarakhand by connecting such religious and spiritual spots with roads and all kinds of conveniences to felicitate tourism.
He added that the archeological survey should go into the deep history of such ancient temples and structures and acquaint people of their religious and spiritual relevance. The historic Thaneshwar Temple is considered as a renowned Sidhpeeth which has fulfilled the wishes of the childless couples who pay obeisance to Lord Shiva whole night holding the earthen lamp in their hands with the chants of Om Namah Shivay.
In the absence of road connectivity, hundreds of Shiv Bhakts and those who visit the temple are confronting a lot of inconveniences. The press conference was jointly addressed by Anand Singh Rawat, President, Secretary Harish Bhatt, Auditor Kamal Singh Rawat, Vinod Kabtiyal, Jagpal Singh Negi and Vijay Singh Negi. All of them demanded the construction of parking, lodging boarding facilities, and lavatory, etc near the Temple premises for the convenience of the visitors.
