Yeah, I know, it happens”

When it comes to the supernatural, the debate is endless. While skeptics believe it to be a game of our senses, theists of such phenomena have a different story to tell. But whether you are a believer or not, a good chilling story always catches your attention. So today we bring to you some stories of haunted places across India. 

Kuldhara, the haunted village of Rajasthan

About 200 years ago, this village was home to the Paliwal Brahmins. During this time, Salim Singh, the Diwan of Jaisalmer, set his eyes on the beautiful daughter of the village chief. known for his debauchery and unscrupulous tax-collecting methods, and he warned them of the consequences if the girl wasn’t handed over.

Fearing his wrath, the inhabitants just left the village overnight. Mysteriously enough, no one saw them leave or know where they went. It is said that they cursed the town as they left. No one would ever be able to settle in this village again.

Agrasen ki Baoli, the haunted step well of Delhi

As majestic it is, this monument has been known for its spooky incidents. The haunted creed of Baoli is spun around the well. It is said, as you go deeper, the sounds disappear and you can sense an unknown presence.

According to people, the Baloi was filled with Blackwater which called out people’s name and was believed to enchant people to jump into it. It is also known as the residence of the Devils.

Savoy Hotel, the murder mystery of Mussoorie

It is not only famous for its architecture and design, but also for its haunted experiences. It is said that in the year 1911, a British spiritualist was found dead in Savoy hotel. She was poisoned. But it was inside a locked room and her murder was never solved.

To date, her cries can be heard echoing through the corridors of this hotel. Some even domain to have seen her before she disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Sinhagad Fort, the haunted fort of Pune

One of the many haunted forts in India, Sinhagad is famous for ghostly voices. Local villagers claim to have heard the cries of the soldiers who lost their lives during the many battles waged in the fort.

To ass to the mystery, a grave tragedy occurred when a bus filled with children crashed down at a nearby hill. Many people also claim to have heard the cries of the children emanating from this fort.

Dumas Beach, the black beach of Gujarat

There’s no denying that the beach has a haunted feel to it. Many people have reported ghostly sightings and eerie voices from the empty beach. Missing tourists, dead bodies, and ghostly orbs, all of these stories are famous.

It is said that Dumas Beach was once used as a Hindu burial ground. Hence it is possessed by several haunting spirits that never left the region. Folklore explains that the existence of black sand is because of the amount of ash created by the cremation process.
