TIME RIPE TO COMPLETELY OVERHAUL THE CONGRESS PARTY UPSIDE DOWN

The shameful defeat of the Congress party under the leadership its president Rahul Gandhi, not once but twice, the earlier being in 2014, has made one thing amply clear that the leadership of Rahul Gandhi has not make any credible mark inorder to improve the performance of the 135 year old party at the pan India level, right from grass roots to the top.

He has even lost from his family’s stronghold Amethi. The party, today is in such a pitiable condition that in the last five year despite so much of efforts and energy, the Nehru Gandhi scion’s ( Rahul’s) leadership alongwith charismatic Priyanka Gandhi, being equated with the image of late political stalwart Indira Gandhi, could not enhance its tally of Lok Sabha seats to more than merely 8 numbers. It is shocking that the party could not even open its account in 18 states of the country.

The Congress had 44 Lok Sabha members post 2014 elections n now 52. The reason behind the debacle or drubbing are many not one. The party is completely surrounded by the coterie of influential old leaders whose sons n daughters too are active at all levels and several of these coterie leaders have cases of alleged corruption etc registered against them doing politics with comfort in air conditioned offices at the national as well as state levels.

They have made Congress a private limited company not allowing capable n good people entry into the organisation. The connect of the Congress leaders in state as well as, at the national level with their rank n file n at grass root levels have been lost almost completely.

Only handful of leaders with money, muscle n influence even uneducated looking for bright opportunities in Congress have associated themselves with central n state leaders hardly organising the grass root programmes or protest demonstrations on burning issues or failure of the government.

The party ‘s programmes, policies, ideology and other important aspects are not disseminated downwards nor efforts are initiated to enroll members at the grass root level.

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi n Priyanka Gandhi have been doing their best but the lack of organisation at the state, district or block levels could not translate those positive efforts n initiatives into votes.

Simply calling themselves as Secular or believing in a pluralistic society would not do. The Congress party needs to come out of its old shackles and change itself according to the modern times, taking lessons from the winning political parties.

The entire organsation needs the complete overhaul with change of old guards with new ,energetic, young but qualified leaders hailing from poor and middle classes or with rural backgrounds n of all communities n catagories.

The old, defunct and defeated leaders at least twice should be shown the door including those who have the corrupt back ground n doubtful reputation.

If need be, a steering high powered committee of leaders with experience from all the states of the country with different backgrounds should be created and programmes of protests against the failures of the new government should be regularly carried out with seminars, talks, conferences n party worker conventions at block levels in all the states from day one of the formation of the government at the centre.

The high command should get rid of liabilities n in their place some experienced new faces should be brought to the fore.

The party leadership should devise a new n credible strategy to formulate plans from now onwards to counter the BJP led NDA in 2024 on various issues – regional, national n international. If need be the national president should have more working hands under his umbrella for his assistence but of blot free image n reputation
