Top tourist hot-spots in India
Table of Contents
India is a vibrant country with hundreds of places of interest. It is then but given that it will attract tourists- both domestic and foreign, all year round. According to an estimate, the Indian tourism industry generates about 6.23% of the nation’s GDP. Don’t bother calculating, it’s a huge number- having some 12 digits. So it’s a really big and prosperous industry, but even then there are a few cities that are more prosperous than others. These are the tourist hot-spots in India- the places most popular when it comes to tourism. Let’s check them out –
Agra
It has the Taj Mahal! But if that is not reason enough, Agra has a total of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites- Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri in addition to the Taj. There is no reason for it not to be a tourist hot-spot. If anything it had been more surprising if it wasn’t on the list, especially when the Taj alone draws millions of visitors annually.
Goa
Goa is one of the most popular destinations when it comes to domestic tourism but it also has a strong foreign footfall. Apart from its beaches and churches, Goa also boasts of picturesque forts and magnificent falls, all surrounded by natural beauty. It is visited by lakhs of people annually and has over half a dozen UNESCO World Heritage sites under its name.
Delhi
Again, an obvious entry but are we really surprised to see Delhi as a tourist hot-spot? I didn’t think so and for obvious reasons too. Apart from India Gate, Red Fort and dozens of other historically significant places, Delhi also boasts of a culture like no other. The bustling markets of Old Delhi are truly something to behold and a popular place for shopping for people even from other states. Over 10 million tourists visit our national capital annually and the number doesn’t seem to be dwindling anytime soon.
Mumbai
There is nothing to say about this one- the economic capital of India holds true to its name and as such is a hub for people from all over the country and the world. It’s the city of dreams and has dozens of attractions to keep the visitors ensnared. It sees over 6 million tourists annually and is the 30th most visited location worldwide. It won’t be a reach to say that most foreigners identify Mumbai as the main Indian City. Yes, it far surpasses our national capital when it comes to global recognition!
Jaipur
Ah… the beautiful Pink City with its culturally rich and unique heritage! Jaipur is one of the tourist hot-spots in India for good reason. The city was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2019 by UNESCO for its iconic architectural legacy and vibrant culture.
