TV SHOWS TO THE RESCUE: WHAT TO WATCH DURING LOCKDOWN
These are very trying times as Coronavirus has taken us all by a storm. With movie plans canceled, picnics rained on and social distancing keeping sleepover parties at bay, one can only be so ‘distant’ from life.
However, fret not, my fellow couch potatoes, because I bring to you a fine selection of tv shows that should help you kick boredom to the curb during this scene of indefinite lockdown.
F.R.I.E.N.D.S:
“Cause no one told you life was gonna be this way!”
We recognize this song all too well. 6 friends, two apartments and one hell of a ride. FRIENDS is the show of the century with ten seasons worth of drama, laughter, and entertainment. If you haven’t got around to watching it, now is the time to catch up.
Brooklyn 99:
A workplace comedy set in a police station, B99 will make you want to dance whenever the opening comes up.
It is a light-hearted, warm and cozy drama series which also makes us face some controversial realities of life (hint: everything the conservatives hate *wink wink*) but no spoileeeesss (a reference you will learn once you watch it) Go ahead, grab a snack and settle in because you will not leave till you finish it.
Supernatural:
If you want a dose of thriller and bearable moments of horror, this is the one for you.
Following the journey of two brothers— Dean and Sam, it is sure to keep your glued to the screen. Monsters, ghouls, ghosts, and an imminent apocalypse, this drama-series is a sure winner in your favorite list. Dean will be your new heartthrob, trust me.
Breaking Bad:
A chemistry teacher turned drug kingpin, Walter White’s life injects into your veins a dose of reality in a common person’s life.
Leading a double life, the lines between the two are soon blurred and it makes us ask ourselves, “What if that was me?”
Castle:
Bored? Confused between genres? Enter the eccentric author Richard Castle and his brainy and beautiful detective muse Katherine Beckett.
Full of witty retorts, playful banter, and some fine mystery-solving, this unnatural duo will take you for a ride of a lifetime. this rom-com will make an everlasting impression on you which will make you come back to it again and again.
Rizzoli and Isles:
If you thought females can’t lead, this badass duo is here to prove you wrong.
Centered around a police detective Jane Rizzoli and forensic expert Maura Isles, this show is anything but boring. It takes you on a journey full of comic relief, thrilling police work and fashionable tour of the life behind the yellow tapes. Beware! It’s a crime to not watch this show.
BoJack Horseman:
Make sure your little ones are asleep before you binge on this animation series.
Based around a washed-up Hollywood actor struggling with depression, addiction and maintaining relationships around him, this dark comedy dealing with contemporary issues of adult life will be relatable to many of us.
Rick and Morty:
This is an animated series that follows the exploits of a genius alcoholic scientist, Rick, and his dumb grandson, Morty.
Thanks to Rick’s many superb inventions, they travel the multi-verse, cause mayhems and make trouble for themselves.
The Simpsons:
A story of a dysfunctional family in the misfit city of Springfield, the Simpsons is a sitcom worthy of its glory.
Get ready to be entertained as you relate to the little nuances of the show to your household. Also, the show has made some uncanny future predictions so watch out for those!
Game Of Thrones:
Last but not the least, Game of Thrones. Power struggles, political upheaval, and dramatic family relations, this show has it all and then some.
Based on the bestselling book series by George R.R. Martin, Game Of Thrones will make sure that you don’t leave your bed till the bitter end.
