Uttarakhand is an ultimate destination for the valuable life saving herbs and various other kinds of herbal medicines.

One such naturally growing  most precious herbal plant is called ” Kilmora ” which has been finally tapped by oustanding entrepreneurs of Uttarakhand who are currently producing juice of this herb, once and earlier considered as the  useless plant.

“Kilmora” has now become a significant source of local employment as well as a pivotal source of medicinal cure in the hills of Uttarakhand and outside as well, quite in demand.
According to K. C. Pandey, a socio cultural promoter, enlightened activist and an  entrepreneur of repute, Kilmora found in the valleys and mountains of Uttarakhand will now change the destiny of hill people for their prosperous future and financial self reliance.
Kilmora herbal plant  found in Uttarakhand hills is not just a plant  but a priceless herb with tremendous healing qualities.
Every part and ingredient of this herbal plant is a medicinal asset  for the people. It bears the potential to give new lease of life to people suffering from various deseases, especially diabities.
People have learnt about its life saving and life giving qualities slowly and gradually says K. C. Pandey.
According to him not only is the precious ” Kilmora” plant currently  being used for producing herbal medicines  proving to be a valuable asset  but people are now also extracting juice from it and earning handsomely thus also giving employment to the locals, especially village women.
An  enterprising social organisation in Haldwani, Uttarakhand known as Alakh Cooperative Society is working positively and constructively in this direction.
Under the Dhari development block in Almora this cooperative voluntary organisation is producing Kilmora Juice in large scale, giving employment to the local people as well.
The juice of ” Kilmora” herb has become so popular that its demand has enhanced multiply not only in Uttarakhand but in other states as well.
According to Pandey “Kilmora” is exclusively a medicinal plant whose root, stem, leaves, thorny branches, flowers are full of herbal medicinal values.
There was a time when its thorny branches used to be  thown away, as people were oblivious of its medicinal qualities  but now they have recognised its highly valuable medicinal qualities.
Pandeys adds : In Uttarakhand ” Kilmora” herbal plant is no less than an “AMRIT”, a priceless nectar,  on which even the American scientists have accorded their positive consent.
Kilmora posseses the anti biotic, anti tumor and anti inflamatory medicinal qualities.
Kilmora is authentically and essentially used in the treatment of diabities. Even doctors guarantee that if Kilmora’s 5 to 10 leaves are consumed daily it controls the sugar level for sure within few days.
The women who are involved or engaged in the collection of Kilmora herbal plants are given Rs 100 for every kilogram by the Alakh cooperative Society in Almora, thus helping them finantially for their hard labour.
Pandey says : the majority of the income generated through this busines is being spent on making the women of Uttarakhand economically self reliant.
“Alakh Cooperative Society” is manufacturing the Kilmora juice with a specialised process which keeps its medicinal elements intact.
The Alakh Cooperative Society is also carrying forward the work of planting and preserving the Kilmora plants in Uttarahand hills on a wide scale.
In America too the scintists are busy doing research on Kilmora’s various medicinal aspects for its future medicinal use to cure various critical deseases.
Mr. Pandey appealed to the enterprising people and young generation to involve themselves in this useful endeavour.
