UTTARAKHAND ACTIVIST SUCCUMBS AFTER MEETING AN ACCIDENT WHILE COMING TO PARTICIPATE IN GAIRSAIN RALLY IN DELHI

Hard luck and unfortunate bad time never knocks one’s door in advance. Nobody knows’ what’s in the store for him or her in the near future. Life in nothing but a momentary gift from the Almighty and nothing is predictable except the hard fact of life i.e. the death, which everybody has to embrace one day. But when a young life is snatched by the cruel hands of destiny, leaving behind a traumatic and shocked family in economic and emotional jeopardy then survival of the family in distress becomes all the more difficult and trivial.

This is what has happened with, till two days ago, a hale and hearty young man namely Dev Singh Negi of Uttarakhand living in Delhi who met with an accident while coming to Parliament street, New Delhi to participate in the HUNKAR RALLY OF UTTARAKHANDIS on 6th of May, 2018 to demand GAIRSAIN as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand and succumbed to the grievous injuries at the Safderjung Hospital trauma centre leaving behind a family in immense financial and emotional distress n jeopardy. Negi left behind, his wife, son and two marriageable daughters.

Dev Singh Negi was serving in a private company and was actively associated with the separate Uttarakhand movement and movement to demand Gairsain. He was the senior vice president of Delhi State Uttarakhand Kranti Dal and one of the most dedicated volunteers’ of Chakbandi aandolan,(movement for consolidation of agricultural land holdings in Uttarakhand) who was always in the fore front for the socio economic and cultural issues of Uttarakhand.

After having met with the accident Negi was grievously injured with grave injury in his spinal chord. He was addmitted to the Trauma Centre of Safderjung hospital yesterday afternoon where he breathed his last today.

A young man symbolising struggle and always being in the forefront right from the separate Uttarakhand movement days, during the nineties to each and every cause of the Uttarakhand hills till date, Negi’s unfortunate and untimely demise has created a huge vaccum/ void amongst the struggling people and socio political scenerio of the Himalayan state which is not so convenient to be filled.

What is the most shocking and anguishing fact of this tragic mishappening is that his family would be in acute financial distress now onwards, as the only earning member of the family is no more.

While expressing my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family I pray to Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul.

I also appeal to the chief minister of Uttarakhand to adequately compensate the distressed family of late Dev Singh Rawat at the earliest so that they can financially become stronger and move ahead with confidence and self reliance.

The various socio political organisations of Delhi and NCR should also constitute a group to ensure adequate financial support to the bereaved family. The savings bank account of the deceased’s wife with all the requisite bank details can bee furnished on facebook and twitter so that the prospective donors can electronically deposit the donation in the said account.
