Vidyut Jammwal: I’m happy that Tiger and I are doing fabulous action
Like most genres, action, too, packs a punch at the box office. So, it’s not surprising that whenever there’s more than one hero specialising in that genre, talk of rivalry amongst them is imminent. After he made his mark withHeropanti (2014) and Baaghi (2016), Tiger Shroff became the new-age action hero. Incidentally, a year before his debut, Vidyut Jammwal had wowed viewers with his stuntbaazi inCommando (2013).
If Tiger’s skills in parkour and martial arts were awe-inspiring, Vidyut’s jump through a car window and sliding on his knees under a jeep was equally jaw-dropping.
No wonder then, speculations were rife about competition between them. Recently, when we met Vidyut and asked him about the rivalry between him and Tiger, he said, “Both of us are different. In my opinion, it’s incorrect to ask about one particular actor. I like what he does. Previously, people have asked me about Akshay Kumar. I love what he does too. You can’t deny that everyone is doing such a great job.”
When pointed out that among the Gen-Y artistes, he and the Student Of The Year 2 actor seem to be the only action heroes with a base in martial arts, Vidyut, who’s trained in Kalaripayattu, said, “I’m happy that Tiger and I are doing fabulous action. I hope to do even more. I don’t think anyone is attempting it like real martial arts.”
He summed up, “We need to continue with these things. Moreover, being a part of the industry, we’re expected to do something different from what we’ve done earlier. Junglee is a great opportunity to show the kind of action that has not been portrayed on screen before.”
