WHY IS A GIRL CHILD NOT DESIRABLE IN INDIAN HOMES?
“They will not stop me. I’ll get my education if it is in home, school or any other place.”
~ Malala Yousafzai.
Women in today’s world have created a distinct place for herself. But with the passage of time, their status deteriorated. Today, a number of social problems are being faced by India like dowry system, female foeticide, corruption etc. Female foeticide is a major problem which is increasing day by day. By analyzing the census reports from 1872 until 2011, it is clear that (except some regions) female population was always below from the male population and this shows that social discrimination against women and preference for sons has been promoted.
Common people did not know that the women play important role in males’ life. A girl plays the role of a friend, a wife, a sister, a mother and a daughter. When we kill a girl, we kill many other relations. Today girls can also do the same things which the boys can do. Today girls are making their parents proud of them so that other people stop killing the girls. There are lot of multiple campaigns by celebrities and journalists to combat sex selective abortions. The bollywood actor ‘Aamir Khan’ has devoted the first episode ‘Satyamev Jayate’ to raise awareness of his widespread practice, focusing primarily on western Rajasthan which is known to be one of the area where this practice is common. India celebrated its 68th Republic Day on 26th January, 2017 with the theme “Skill India and Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao”. Recently, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath expresses concern over the declining sex ratio in the state and launches the informer scheme aimed at arresting cases of female foeticide. But still situation is same throughout.
The struggle for girl child starts the day her existence is known in her mother’s womb. In India, the girl considered a burden as huge amounts of money, gold, and also other items needs to be given in the form of dowry given to the boys at the time of marriage.
Will it STOP? Female foeticide can only be stopped through the ban of technology through which we can check whether a baby is boy or the girl and the government should snatch the license of those doctors who do such practice. It can be only stopped when the thinking and behavior of the orthodox rural people changes but also urban people. Thinking needs to be reformed and then only this can be only be stopped.
At the end I want to say that why people pray for a boys not for girls. All the people desire for the boys not for the girls. But when people are in need of health, courage, education then why they call the goddess Lakshmi, goddess Durga, goddess Saraswati and also the maa Kali. They are also the girls to whom we daily pray for ourselves. We should request people not to kill the girls and should give chance to girls so that they proved to other people that they are better than boys and also care for the parents more than the boys who do not care for the parents after their marriage but girls even care after her marriages. This also proves GIRLS ARE BETTER THAN BOYS.
SAVE THE GIRL CHILD SAVE THE NATION.
