Will Irrfan Khan’s ‘Hindi Medium 2’ be titled ‘English Medium’?

Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Hindi Medium’ was much-loved when it released in 2017. The movie, produced by Dinesh Vijan, was appreciated to such an extent that a spin-off of the film was constantly in news.

Although the makers confirmed soon after that they would come out with a sequel of their film ‘Hindi Medium‘, the title of that film was never revealed. Even though all this while it was assumed that the movie would be titled ‘Hindi Medium 2’, that might not be the case. A report on Deccan Chronicle went on to quote that the makers are planning to switch the subject from Hindi medium schools to English medium schools.

A source told the daily, “The film will not just address the issues of Hindi medium students in the US but also those of the students from other countries who face trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language.”

The original film starred Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. Post the ban on Pakistani artistes, the actress in the sequel would have to be replaced. Meanwhile even though Irrfan Khan is back in town, there is no confirmed news that the actor would be part of the sequel as well. Irrfan was being treated for his rare disease – neuroendocrine tumour. The tumour is believed to be a form of cancer. The actor was getting treatment in UK and is now back in town. He might sign a few movies soon. The actor featured in the movie ‘Blackmail‘ before taking a sabbatical due to the disease.
